The Friends’ 2nd Chapter Bookstore, staffed by dedicated volunteers (click here for more information about volunteering), is a major source of funds for the Scituate library. is a major source of funds for the Scituate library. 100% of our proceeds goes toward funding museum passes, concerts, and programs for both children and adults. The bookstore features an extensive selection of gently used books, puzzles, CD’s, and DVD’s for the whole family. We sell only those in great condition - some suitable for gift-giving. Our customers love our selection, quality, and well-organized store, but most of all, they LOVE our prices. In all areas you can pay by cash , check or online via credit card (use the QR code to link to payment page).

Where to shop
MAIN BOOKSTORE: Located on the lower level of the Library across from the elevator. We have an interesting and ever-changing selection of fiction and nonfiction for adults, children and young adults. In addition, we have special areas for vintage, collectible, coffee table books, puzzles, CDs, DVDs and large print books. If you are looking for a novel, a memoir, or a decorating, cooking or gardening book, check out our main store. If you are interested in government, politics or sports, we may have the perfect item for you. See hours of operation above.
LOBBY: Located as you enter the Library lobby, there is a display of “Nearly New” recent bestsellers, adult fiction and nonfiction, children's & young adult books, CDs, and DVDs. This area is open any time the library is open. A cash box or QR code for electronic payment are located on a stand for your convenience.
ALCOVE: Located right outside the Main Bookstore on the lower level, this area is dedicated to young children’s books and special seasonal displays. This area is available anytime the library is open with a payment box and QR code located on the wall.
BOOKSTORE BUCKS: A Great idea for those times when you want to let family and friends choose their own books. $1. each, or 5 for $3. Available for sale at the Main Bookstore desk (may not be used day of sale).
Bookstore Donations
All donations must be in good to excellent condition.
Our bookstore accepts the following materials:
Hardcover and paperback fiction and nonfiction
Children’s and young adult books
DVDs and CDs in good working order and in original packaging
Puzzles - complete with box in good condition
Books in good condition--up to 4 boxes or bags--may be left behind the circulation desk whenever the library is open or, preferably, on the lower level under the tables in front of the Bookstore.

Dictionaries
Reference books
Books with broken spines
Books with mold, mildew, water damage, or smell of smoke from fire or cigarettes
Books which are marked up, underlined, or highlighted
Books with ripped pages
VHS and cassette tapes
Audiobooks
Remember - if you wouldn’t purchase it, PLEASE do not donate it!
